Another Cloud Software product is going to manufacturers this one is System Center 2012. Released on April 1, Microsoft made the suite of products available for download by its volume-license customers.

What will this mean for users? Well, among the System Center products that make up the 2012 family is the System Center Configuration Manager 2012, which is going to enable Microsoft to manage iPads and other non-Microsoft devices. It will also have the System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 ; and a hybrid on-premises/cloud management portal known as Microsoft System Center App Controller 2012. The current release to volume license users precludes other developers, at least for now.

Microsoft is releasing two models: the standard edition and Data Center edition. The standard edition model will allow two operating system environments to manage. The datacenter edition model, on the other hand, is open ended on that regard. The Cloud control that can come from this should make customers more attuned to the use of cloud Operations, meaning that they won’t be restricted to using the Azure services to only one type of OS, like Windows7, for instance.
